   Double trouble – June 10, 2024

   Patience for setting it up.
   $63.60 Is what I paid for the printer and 500 pages of premium paper. Now the printer came with ink. So assuming I can print 500 trouble Free pages then that works out to be $0.1272 cents per page. If these printer cartridges that came with it turn out to be just starter cartridges and I have to turn around and buy cartridges then that brings it up to $0.22 per page which would make it $0.03 per page More expensive than just going to office Depot and not having to deal with the headache of owning my own printer and buying paper and dealing with printer cartridges. But if you need the convenience of having a printer at home and you don’t mind having slow prints then this will work just fine. P.S. I like it.

   You do NOT need a USB cable – Wifi only works
   When I tried to set up the printer I was confused. The setup program tried to find the printer on the network. Obviously it wouldn’t find it.So I thought I needed a USB cable and I realized. Whoops it doesn’t come with one!Then I read the instructions again. AFTER the computer fails to locate the printer on the network, there is a checkbox that says “Printer could not be found” or something like this.Press the NEXT button, then it will ask you to do a bunch of wierd button presses on the printer. Once you do it, the computer will detect the printer and set itself up.Note you might have to go through two agonizing “searching for printer” scans before you get to this screen. 😣

   I should have listened
   Admittedly, set-up for this CANON MG3600 PIXMA PRINTER was not intuitive – but after referring to 3 YouTube videos, I got it up & running. I successfully printed 5 return labels, applauded my abilities, wildly denigrated the whining idiots who’d posted negative reviews, and went on with life.2 months later, I attempted a print job using both sides of the paper, and it jammed. I cleared the jam, reset the printer, cleared the job from my laptop, and initiated the same job anew – this time asking for print on a single side. The printer – still fully, wirelessly, connected – spit out 2 clean sheets of paper, made a few noises, stopped, and generated an error message on my laptop indicating printer was jammed.I went to the Canon website and read their troubleshooting suggestions. I also spent some time on Google, where the following phrases auto-populated in rapid succession:- canon mg3600 series printer not responding- canon PIXMA stopped working- canon PIXMA not printing wireless- canon PIXMA wireless not working- canon printer not responding WIN10- canon mg3600 not printing IOS- canon printer not working with MAC- canon printer not working with DELL- canon printer not working with PCI began troubleshooting.I took printer back to factory resets, reset the printer, cleared the jam, cleared the job from my laptop, and initiated the single-sided job anew. The printer spit out 2 clean sheets of paper, made a few more noises, stopped, and generated an error message on my laptop indicating printer was jammed.I deleted software/drivers and reinstalled, cleared the jam, cleared the job from my laptop, and initiated the same job anew.    Good Printer, Horrible Instructions
   I set this up to be used with an Android phone and tablet, I’m also including iOS instructions.To reach tech support, you have to register the product and get a My Cannon account and then sit on hold hell forever.I’ll save you a call to tech support to set it up wirelessly for an Android or iOS device.You don’t need a PC or Mac to set it up but it can be tricky to set it up via WiFi. Cannon tried to idiot proof it so people wouldn’t accidently reset itThis is how to set up the printer using an Android or iOS device:iOS device, use the same method to reset the printer WiFi settings then follow the instructions in the app, it’s a little different than Android.First things first:Make sure you have the ink installed correctly or it won’t do anything!Next follow these steps in order!Install Cannon Print from the app store. Open the app and agree to the terms and give it the needed permissions in the app and then exit the app.Now we’ll reset the printer WiFi settings and put it into pairing mode:Turn on the printer.Press and hold the WiFi button until power button blinks.Next press the COLOR button.Then press the WiFi button.That resets the printer WiFi and puts it into pairing mode.Next, on your Android or iOS device go into your WiFi settings and connect to the WiFi network “Cannon_ij_ ” that will be followed by the printer model number in the SSID.Your device may show no Internet but that’s fineNext open the Cannon Print app, it will start searching for the printer and show a list of available networks, select your network and enter your network password. If it doesn’t search automatically, press the SEARCH button.Follow the on screen instructions from there.You may get an error that it’s not connected even though it is and it shows in the Cannon Print app (Samsung Android 11 did that). If that happens, exit and reopen the app.Other devices will find the printer once it’s initially set up, just make sure the cannon Print app is installed on each them.To install on additional Android or iOS devices:Install the app on each device you want to connect to the printer.Turn in the printer.Connect the Android or iOS device to your WiFi network.Open the app and agree to the terms and give it the permissions it needs.Tap SEARCH and the app will automatically detect the printer.The printer won’t lose settings even if it’s unplugged.This printer only connects to a 2.4ghz network but after it was set up I could use my 5ghz network to communicate to the printer.Besides the Cannon Print app get the Cannon Print Service app as well, it’s a plugin to print directly from other apps or a browser without having to open the Canon Print app.There is also the Cannon Photo Editor, Creative Pack for the photo editor and Selphy Photo Layout as well l but I haven’t tried them yet.All the apps have no ads and no intrusive permissions.

   So far so good
   Wireless setup was a breeze on both iPhone and a windows 10 laptop. So far so good. Some reviews mention a difficult setup so I thought I’d add a 5 star review for no issues. I recommend using the website to setup instead of the included CD though. I did try the CD first on my laptop and it was going too slow. On the website it was fine.

   Mi novia me pidió que le ayude a buscar una impresora multifuncional y terminé comprando esta. Imprime con facilidad documentos que tenga en su iPhone de manera inalámbrica así cmo archivos que tenga en su laptop. Configurarla no fue nada difícil ya que el software con el que viene se encarga de todo. Funciona con iPads y iPhones sin necesidad de hacerle ajustes extras pero con tabletas y celulares Android si será necesario descargar el app de Mopria Print pero no es algo complicado. Para uso doméstico funciona a la perfección y es muy práctica. En la cuestión de los cartuchos adquirí un kit de recarga y quedaron a la perfección. El único detalle que para recargar los cartuchos se tienen que seguir las indicaciones de recarga al pie de la letra para que te queden bien los cartuchos. Siendo que ya tengo algo de experiencia recargando mis propios cartuchos este proceso me toma 10 minutos y no he tenido problemas. Obvio esa es una alternativa a comprar cartuchos nuevos cada vez que se acabe la tinta de los cartuchos que estés utilizando.Dada la facilidad de uso de esta impresora, la calidad de impresión y su precio la recomiendo ampliamente.

   La impresora es resistente e imprime en colores muy nitidos. Para instalarla, en el celular descarguen la aplicacion y ella se encarga de hacer la configuracion.En cuanto a la instalacion para Desktop o laptop, instalen todas las utilerias que vienen en el disco que la acompaña, seleccionar router inalambrico y se instala y configura por si sola.100% recomendada.
